The way in which Cowhide Rugs have been packed and shipped they tend to have fold marks and creases. In time just by laying them on your floor most of the creases will come out. However, if you want a quick fix then we have a great way to speed up this process. You can simply use your iron to smooth out the fold marks and creases.
Equipment needed
- Large Towel
- Damp Cloth
- Standard Iron
- Extension Lead
- Cowhide Rug
Simply place your Cowhide Rug on the floor on top of the towel. The towel is there to protect your floor. Plug in your extension lead and iron. Once the iron has reached the correct maximum temperature you are ready to go to work. Place the damp cloth on the area you wish to iron and use as you would when ironing your clothes, keep the iron moving and check to see if you have smoothed out the creases. Well done you now have a Cowhide Rug that is fold and crease free.
Please remember to let the hide cool down before you re position it on your floor. Some cowhides will not lay flat no matter how many times you try and iron them. The tanning process can stretch the hide therefore making it impossible to lay totally flat, this is part of the characteristics of Cowhide Rugs, they also can have branding marks, scratches and patches on them, and again this is all normal.
Cowhide Rugs are wonderfully individual and add character and style to any living space. We would like to thank you for purchasing your Cowhide Rug from Rug House and hope it will give many years of pleasure.
